Claire MacLeod’s Profile
Claire’s association with Higher Education is deeply rooted. Her grandfather, Doctor Bertrand Hallward, was the founding Vice Chancellor of the University of Nottingham. Her uncle, Rev’d Professor Owen Chadwick OM KBE was Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Master of Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, and Chancellor of the University of East Anglia. Consequently, Claire grew up comfortable in the company of esteemed academic leaders.
Prior to founding Claire MacLeod Associates, Claire worked for two other executive search firms –a FTSE 250 global corporation and a smaller boutique firm. For both companies she established and grew successful search practices within the education sector, with particular focus on Higher Education.
Claire works closely with executive management and boards of governors to recruit senior post-holders to a range of HE and FE institutions and academies. She has also placed a number of Chief Executives and Managing Directors to education-related private and not for profit organizations.
Previously, having graduated with an Honours degree from Lancaster University, Claire led training and development programmes for both public and private sector organisations. She gained international experience establishing a new regional office for a national non-profit organization, and also whilst Managing Director of a business development consultancy, both based in Canada.
Claire was appointed a school governor in 2007 and in 2010 took up Chair. In 2011 Ofsted rated the Board of Governors ‘Outstanding’.
With skills in meeting facilitation, senior management training and strategic development, she founded Claire MacLeod Associates Ltd to meet the Higher Education sector’s need for a dedicated, sector-specialist, executive search firm.
